In German, EMIL derives from the word Emelen, which means to strive or to excel and without a doubt, he hasn’t failed to live up to the name. If you don’t know, get to know!
I’ve personally been a fan of EMIL when Knucks dropped his joint “Beg to Differ”, a two part track with one of the coldest productions you will ever hear, to then finding out EMIL dropped the full tracks “Bakerloo” & “BTD” on the EP Ambrosia.
Ambrosia, Greek Mythology for the food of gods, which means something very pleasing to taste or smell. I wonder what his meaning behind the EP title is; is he being literal or does he just love custard lol.
The recent collaboration album with US native Mick Jenkins, A MURDER OF CROWS, released in October 2025 highlights just how versatile he can be as a musician and how powerful his music transcends. His unique sound features bass-heavy productions of Hip-Hop and R&B, often fused with Jazz, creating a distinct musical identity.
I remember hearing “Beauty Supply” by Noname for the first time and ecstatically knowing it had to be EMIL on the production. Speculating, but it sounds like Tyler Daley, from Children of Zeus, is in the backing vocals for this song & a couple others. Would be cool to find out if this is true.
This specially curated capsule explores EMIL’s discography, highlighting tracks that he has produced and collaborated on. Let us know your standout tracks and save the capsule for future updates.
